Last week FileShadow announced the arrival of our new Windows Desktop App, now available for all PC’s running on the Microsoft Windows platform. Our development team worked hard to bring you this exciting new addition to the FileShadow family! This new functionality completes the circle for us, as it follows our announcement last fall of the FileShadow macOS Desktop App, which has been a great success. However, there are some people (including yours truly) who have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the PC version. Let me tell you why…
As the Director of Communications for FileShadow, it is my job to communicate about our product. Our product is super cool and something that everyone needs, so that makes my job easy. However, the ONE thing I have really, really wanted is for FileShadow to back up not only all of my various cloud storage systems (collected from years of freelancing for multiple clients, with multiple cloud preferences), but to backup the files on my desktop as well. I am the lone PC user in my office, mercilessly teased for my “lack of a Mac”, but I have not grown disheartened, because I had intel that the Windows Desktop App was coming. So, I have patiently waited, and now I can shout this great news from the rooftops (and my PC). Wahoo!
With FileShadow’s new Desktop App I can securely backup any or all of the folders and files I have stored on my local desktop, plus files I have stored on external devices or in my various cloud accounts (I have a few...Google Drive, DropBox, OneDrive, etc.). This is a freelancer’s dream! And speaking of “free”, FileShadow gives you a 100GB account for free with no credit card or commitment required. (That’s A LOT of free cloud storage. You can back up SO much.) This is a perfect way to strategically back up certain accounts, or you can move data over and delete it from its original location (freeing up more storage), or just go hog wild and move everything over to FileShadow permanently. We don’t care, as long as you use it! (Also, I haven’t mentioned how much I love the search feature, but that’s another blog entirely.)
Once I post this blog I am going to go install the FileShadow Windows Desktop App on my lovely new Surface Pro PC. This will assure me that all of my files and photos will be encrypted and stored in a secure cloud vault, all clouds and devices in ONE place, and that they are safe and sound should anything happen to my computer. I will be able to find any of my files, whenever I need them, from any location, with or without having the original computer source with me. If you’d like to join me from your PC it is super easy to get set up.
→ Simply go to the FileShadow website (www.fileshadow.com) → select the red “sign up” button in the top, right corner, enter your name, email address and a password and you’ll be off and running.
→ Choose the cloud icon at the top of the page → select the “Download Windows Desktop App” button to download the app → then you can select the desktop folders you’d like to backup to FileShadow.
Easy, peasy.
Oh, and while you’re at it, you can also back up lots of other clouds and external devices as well like Google Drive, Box, DropBox, OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, Adobe Creative Cloud and Lightroom solutions, iCloud (through macOS) and external devices like your Drobo and other direct attached storage devices (DAS) or your Drobo network attached storage device (NAS).
Thanks for reading. We LOVE our customers, and we love your feedback.
